Mexican navy detains police agents 'with cartel links'

This article is outlining an incident that brought to the global communities
attention on the 4th October, it is telling the reader how 18 Mexican police officers have been arrested on suspicion of working with drug cartels in the Veracruz region of Mexico. Mexican marine forces had arrested the officers along with nine fugitives that had escaped jail a few weeks previously, whom had made the forces aware of the names after a list was found on one of the persons, outlining who was on the pay list of the Zetas Cartel. The men involved were understood to have been taking around 2,000 and 10,000 pesos a month in return for their services such as protection and acting as a look out of them.

Although this situation is fairly shocking, I can’t say that I am too surprised with it. With the Mexican black economy booming, many services and people can’t refuse entry to it with the promise of large amounts of money and prospect involved in which. The municipal police force of this region is also notable for being one of the most poorly paid branches, always as being poorly trained. Corruptions rates are understandably very high here. A police man can more or less double his month income by working for such a cartel, if such a person has a family to support, or other outgoing financial factors then the extra income would prove to be invaluable. It is only a matter of time before this black, underground economy that Mexico has takes a larger role and could potentially control consumer investment into the national economy.
